John Cena Among The Frontrunners for Shazam

John Cena

DC has had a bumpy ride so far with its Extended Universe. While their last movie, Wonder Woman was a success both commercially and critically, it remains to be seen if their upcoming movies can get the same reception as Wonder Woman.

Shazam is one of the movies under production for WB right now. While no actors have been cast so far for the role of Billy Batson and his adult version Shazam, reports have been coming that John Cena and Joshua Sasse are the frontrunners for the role.

John CenaThe Hashtag Show has reported that John Cena is being eyed for the role. Shazam is in pre production right now and is looking for the right actors to play both Shazam and Billy Batson. In addition, Joshua Sasse (Galavant) is also reportedly up for the part of Shazam. Via Heroic Hollywood

Cena’s acting career has taken the right track now that he is starring in the animated Ferdinand and the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee. A role in Shazam would

ensure that Cena’s acting career stays on the right path. . It would be interesting to watch John Cena’s Shazam against Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. (Since both of them are professional wrestlers). Here is a working synopsis for Shazam! obtained by THS:

Based on the DC Comics character “Shazam!” Billy Batson becomes Captain Marvel, the world’s mightiest mortal, when he says the magic word “Shazam! The name is an acronym for six gods and heroes of the ancient world as well as their attributes. The wisdom of Solomon, strength of Hercules, stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, courage of Achilles and speed of Mercury.

John Cena

John Cena’s personality would somewhat fit for the role, as Shazam needs to be a 10year old boy in a body of a grown man. However, fans have some doubt about Cena’s acting and whether he could do justice to the mythical superhero. Ofcourse there will be muscular action combined with some light heart comedy, but IF Cena is chosen to play Shazam, could he do it?
