10. Lucifer (2015 – Present)

Synopsis : Lucifer Morningstar has decided he’s had enough of being the dutiful servant in Hell and decides to spend some time on Earth to better understand humanity. He settles in Los Angeles – the City of Angels.
Fun fact : Tom Ellis (Lucifer) does his own singing throughout the show, although does not play the piano on screen. In early interviews for the show, he said he didn’t “really know” how to. In 2019, a video of him accompanying himself on a piano whilst singing showed he’s since added this skill to his repertoire.
9. The Last Kingdom (2015 – Present)

Synopsis : As Alfred the Great defends his kingdom from Norse invaders, Uhtred – born a Saxon but raised by Vikings – seeks to claim his ancestral birthright.
Fun fact : Unlike the similar series, “Vikings”, The Last Kingdom along with timelines has many things historically accurate. Both series show the invasion of the great heathen army. “Vikings” shows this invasion as taking place during the reign of King Ecbert (reign 839-858)(Afred’s grandfather) when in fact it takes place in the closing days of the reign of King Aethelred I (reign 865-871), Alfred’s brother and predecessor, as shown in The Last Kingdom.
8. Russian Doll (2019 – Present)

Synopsis : A cynical young woman in New York City keeps dying and returning to the party that’s being thrown in her honor on that same evening. She tries to find a way out of this strange time loop.
Fun fact : Co-created by Leslye Headland, Natasha Lyonne and Amy Poehler. According to Lyonne, they pitched it to Netflix as a three-season series, making two more seasons possible if it is a success with viewers.
7. Orange is the New Black (2013 – 2019)

Synopsis : Convicted of a decade old crime of transporting drug money to an ex-girlfriend, normally law-abiding Piper Chapman is sentenced to a year and a half behind bars to face the reality of how life-changing prison can really be.
Fun fact : The title sequence features close-ups of the faces of real former inmates, including a brief shot of Piper Kerman, whose book was the basis for the TV series. Kerman has blue eyes and is the one who blinks.

Fun fact : Aziz Ansari searched for two Indian actors to play his parents, but was unable to find anyone suitable for the roles, and eventually cast his real life parents, who are not actors.
5. GLOW (2017 – Present)

Synopsis : A look at the personal and professional lives of a group of women who perform for a wrestling organization in Los Angeles during the 1980s.
Fun fact : Kia Stevens, who plays Tamee/Welfare Queen in the series, is the only female cast member who is actually a professional wrestler. Stevens has been a champion all over the world wrestling under the name Awesome Kong (sometimes Amazing Kong). She also briefly wrestled in WWE as Kharma.
4. American Vandal (2017 – 2018)

Synopsis : A true-crime satire that explores the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left twenty-seven faculty cars vandalized with phallic images.
Fun fact : The vandalism from season 1 takes place on March 15th, regarded as an unlucky day (commonly known as ‘the ides of March’)

Synopsis : BoJack Horseman was the star of the hit television show “Horsin’ Around” in the ’80s and ’90s, now he’s washed up, living in Hollywood, complaining about everything, and wearing colorful sweaters.
Fun fact : Patrick Carney of the Black Keys recorded the theme to this show as a test of his new home studio, with his uncle providing saxophone. The song was never intended to be used for anything, until Carney was approached by the show’s creators, who asked to use the track as their opening theme.

Synopsis : A financial advisor drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder money to appease a drug boss.
Fun fact : At the beginning of each episode, the title is shown with four symbols inside of an O that foreshadow events from that episode. The symbols also spell the letters Z-A-R-K to form OZARK altogether.

Synopsis : A family saga with a supernatural twist, set in a German town, where the disappearance of two young children exposes the relationships among four families.
Fun fact : The tattoo on Noah’s back, and in a picture in the 1986 version of the local hospital, is of The Emerald Tablet, an ancient text part of whats known as “Hermetica”, a collection of occultist 2nd Century Greco-Egyptian “wisdom texts”. It describes, among other things, alchemy experiments, transmutation, and the creation of the universe. But more importantly it discusses the idea that both large and small actions are all connected and influence each other, which is a central theme of the series.
