Star Wars: The Last Jedi is officially a commercial success. While the movie is in the list of top 10 highest grossing movies of all time, it wasn’t loved by everyone. A major reason for that would be that the movie did not explain some of the elements that were introduced in The Force Awakens. One such thing was The Knights OF Ren.

First mentioned in The Force Awakens, The Knights Of Ren is a group which falls under the command of Kylo Ren. While it was speculated before the release that The Knights Of Ren will be in episode VIII, they were nowhere to be found in the movie.
On an Empire podcast, Rian Johnson explains why The Knights Of Ren aren’t in The Last Jedi:
“We have a very full movie already there literally was just not room for another element…I guess I could’ve used them in place of the Praetorian guards but then it would feel like wasting them because all those guards had to die. And if Kylo had some kind of connection to them it would’ve added a complication that wouldn’t have helped the scene…truth is I just didn’t see a place for them in the movie.”
The Pretorian Guards scene was the one where Kylo Ren and Rey fight together and Kylo Ren kills Supreme Leader Snoke. It would’ve been confusing to see the The Knights Of Ren fighting Kylo Ren since their allegiance lies with him. Maybe we’ll get to see them in action in Episode IX. Guess we’ll just have to wait and find out.
