Hollywood has had its fair share of flops this year. While big budget movies like Power Rangers and Ghost In A Shell couldn’t add big bucks to the box office, some movies were not a total dud after all. From the looks of it, Superhero movies are the only ones who did well this year. (So far)
So far, 5 superhero movies have been released and all have done well on box office. Till now, Guardians of the Galaxy : Vol. 2 was the top grossing superhero movie of 2017 but looks like we have a different winner. Spiderman: Homecoming has officially surpassed Guardians of the Galaxy : Vol. 2 to become the biggest superhero release of this year. Here are the statistics.
The Lego Batman Movie – $315 million
Logan – $616.8 million
Guardians of the Galaxy : Vol. 2 – $863.4 million
Wonder Woman : $800 million
Spiderman : Homecoming – $875 million
Jon Watts’ Spiderman : Homecoming stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, the web slinging superhero from Marvel. The actor made his debut as Spiderman in Captain America : Civil War and will be next seen in Avengers : Infinity War. Out of the $875 million earned worldwide, $332 million was collected domestically, putting it on fourth place in the Spiderman franchise behind Sam Raimi’s trilogy. The success of Homecoming is an indication that his next movie in the series, which is to be released in 2019 will also be a hit.
