New LR Range Rover Velar

The new Land Rover Range Rover Velar is the 4th newest and most dynamic Range Rover. It fills the spot between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport in terms of size as well as price. It’s built on an almost aluminium platform with little bit of magnesium and steel used for weight distribution. When compared to its siblings it looks slightly less heavy duty and doesn’t look like a big beefy off roader. The price range starts at $49,900 and the most expensive Velar will cost around $103,265 when it goes on sale in 2018.

Exterior

On the outside the Range Rover Velar looks sharp and modern. It’s a long car but quite low which gives it a very unique profile. Looks wise it’s obviously related to its Range Rover siblings but has a few new touches, like the retractable door handles and four different LED headlight designs. Overall, the aggressive styling works for the Velar and it definitely looks better than its competition i.e the Porsche Macan.

Interior

The interior of the Velar is quite plush and really funky to look at. It’s got 3 digital screens out of which 2 are touch, one lies on top of the dashboard which is the infotainment system and the other below it is used for air con controls and drive mode selection, the third screen acts as instrument panel providing vital information to the driver.

The interior quality of the Velar is good apart from some plastics used in the lower sections and around the door openings, this kind of cost cutting is not acceptable in a car of this price point.

The space in the front is great with good head room and leg room for both the occupants, but the ones seated in the back might have an issue with leg room although head room won’t be a problem despite the panoramic sunroof.  The boot space that Velar has to offer is huge, 673lts to be precise.
