Last year, Niantic debuted their augmented reality game based on Pokemon. The game, Pokemon Go became an instant hit among the people and broke all records. Pokemon Go quickly became the biggest mobile game in U.S history and was downloaded more than 750 million times in the first year.
Now Niantic is bringing a game for the potterheads out there. In a press release on their website, Niantic officially announced their new title, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. A logo was officially released by the software company and also offered some details about the game :
With Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players that have been dreaming of becoming real life Wizards will finally get the chance to experience J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighborhoods and cities to discover & fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies.
J.K Rowling introduced the world to Harry Potter back in 1997 and since then, the boy who lived has had millions of fans throughout the world. Niantic has partnered with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and the WB Games San Francisco development team to develop the game.
Though no official statement has been given as to when the game will actually be available to play, it is safe to say that the game won’t be available before 2019. With such a huge project, Niantic has his hands full for some time now. Let’s see if the game turns out to be a winner.
