The biggest motor show of the year The Frankfurt Motor Show has now come to an end. The show featured a lot of launches and new concepts. This post is for all the speed enthusiasts, here is a list of the top 5 sports cars launched at the show.
1. Mercedes AMG Project One
Mercedes finally revealed their AMG Project One hybrid hypercar which produces 1000bhp and can reach a top speed of 217mph. The car uses a formula one based engine. It’s claimed to be quicker than the Bugatti Chiron. The car will priced around $2.6 million, and will come in production in 2019.
2. Ferrari Portofino
The Portofino is here to replace the Ferrari California. It’s powered by a 3.9lt turbocharged V8 which produces 591-bhp. Portofino will replace the Ferrari California. Ferrari says the car will make its way from 0-62mph (100kmph) in just 3.5 seconds with a top speed of over 199mph (320kmph). On-sale date and pricing are yet to be announced, but it’s expected to cost around $205,000.
3. Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster
The new addition to Aventador family the Aventador S Roadster, is the most iconic car from Lamborghini. It’s powered by a 6.5-lt V12 producing 740-bhp @ 8400-rpm and 690-Nm of torque @ 5500-rpm. The Roadster can spring from standstill to 62-mph in just 3 seconds and has a top speed of 217-mph (349-kmph). The car will cost around $460,000 that would be $40,000 more than the coupe version. Deliveries will start from February 2018.
4. Porsche 911 GT 2 RS
The 22nd generation of the Porsche 911 was unveiled. The car is lighter and faster than its predecessor, it’s powered by a 3.8-lt twin turbo engine which makes 700-bhp and 750-Nm of torque. It manages to reach 0-62-mph (100-kmph) in just 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 198-mph.
5. Audi R8 RWS
Audi unveiled their R8 Rear Wheel Series (RWS), it’s the rear wheel drive variant of their R8 sports car. Its production will be limited to 999 units, which will include both coupe and convertible variants. It uses a 5.2-lt naturally aspirated V10 engines which produces 533-bhp and 540-Nm of torque. The car shed 50kgs by removing the all wheel drive system, despite the loss in weight the car is slower (0.2 seconds) than its AWD coupe variant to 0-62-mph (100-kmph) mark, the car makes it in 3.8 seconds. Audi will price the R8 RWS at $168,000 for the coupe variant and $183,000 for the Audi R8 V10 RWS Spyder.
