Recently, Arrow name-dropped Bruce Wayne in one of the episodes. While fans have been excited about the easter egg ever since the easter egg was dropped, it looks like the name-dropping was all just for fun.
Marc Guggenheim, the showrunner recently spoke to Comicbook, and told that Batman won’t be making an appearance in the Arrowverse anytime soon. He said:
“No, I love a good Easter egg, and I love doing the occasional name drop. You know, we name dropped Hal Jordan at the beginning of Season 3, but it’s really just fun for us. I think in the Arrowverse we have our own Justice League and the Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Batman … these are all characters that are either spoken for on the movie side and/or other shows. There’s a Bruce Wayne on Gotham… Over here on the CW, we’re sort of a mischievous lot, and we enjoy the occasional Easter egg… And our partners at DC are very tolerant of our mischief. But that’s really all it is. Just good nature, good fanboy mischief.”
For those who don’t remember, Oliver Queen name-dropped Bruce Wayne in the episode ‘Tribute’, when he calls for a press conference after a photo was released which showed him in the Green Arrow outfit. This isn’t the first time The Dark Knight has been called out. The character was also mentioned by other Arrowverse characters. Supergirl mentions a vigilante and friend who helps her cousin Superman and a newspaper headline in The Flash gives update on Wayne Tech.
While this might disappoint the fans since Batman is a fav favorite of almost every DC lover, Arrow has been consistent with introducing new characters from the DC roster. The recent addition of The Elongated Man to The Flash shows that there’s still a lot of new characters for the Arrowverse to add.
